What is Coaching?

Coaching is not therapy or advice-giving. The goal of coaching is to help the other person grow in their own life potential, learning, and performance. Coaching helps a person identify obstacles, strengths,  reach personal goals and solutions in all areas of life. Overall, coaching helps to unlock a person's potential and growth through learning vs telling. Coaching is a peer, co-working, and co-creating relationship.

What is Coaching Vs Mentoring?

A Mentor is an advanced expert in a specific area of wisdom derived from their own experience working in that area. A Mentor passes on that wisdom within that specific area through guidance, resources, tools, feedback, and support to help another person thrive in that area. Mentoring is slightly different from coaching as it provides direct feedback and support vs Coaching encourages self-discovery and growth through learning vs. telling there is no advice-giving in coaching.

What is Biblical Life Coaching?

Biblical Life Coaching is rooted in the foundation of the Bible.

A Biblical Coach is not a Pastor or therapist and does not function as one. Biblical Life Coaching is a lay ministry for growth and educational purposes only. However, most Biblical Coaches have a background or education in ministry. A typical coaching session opens and closes in prayer to God. The main tools used during the coaching conversation are the Bible and the Holy Spirit to help guide and anchor the person's life direction and faith through a Biblical lens. Most homework, reading materials, or soul researching information given to the person for self-discovery is rooted in Christian Biblical truths. Biblical Life Coaching is helpful in all areas of the Christian life, whether the goal is to improve personal, business, or relationship needs. Coaching encourages self-discovery and growth through learning vs. telling there is no advice-giving in coaching.

Is Coaching a licensed profession?

At this time, coaching is not a licensed profession. A Coach can be certified in many areas such as life, faith, spirituality, sports, or business. Coaches are not the same as licensed therapists, psychotherapists, or mental healthcare providers and do not function as one. A Coach cannot diagnose, advise, prescribe, bill insurance, or provide any mental health professional's services. Coaches can hold a degree in their area of coaching however that does not translate to a license. It simply shows they have a more profound in-depth education as a coach in their area of study.

How does coaching work?

What is involved?

  • At this time, all coaching is primarily virtual and done through a virtual office online via Zoom. There is currently no physical office.

  • One-on-one coaching is a 45-minute session. Meeting weekly or bi-weekly through a virtual Zoom office.

  • Sessions are done in sets of five pre-paid appointments for maximum personal benefit.

  • Homework - Light weekly homework will be assigned, such as reflective questions, Bible reading, journaling, or reading of a particular book.

  • Practice - weekly practice of new skills gained during coaching is helpful for authentic heart and life changes. You get out of the coaching process what you put into it.

  • Accountability - I will hold you accountable, challenge you, and provide support with a structure that helps you grow in your faith.

  • Expect change. Change can be uncomfortable, especially meaningful heart-centered change. Be open to the unexpected as the Holy Spirit stirs a shift within you. Change can sometimes be challenging, but the journey is worth the reward.

What tools are used during the coaching process?
